San Fresco Raw Egg Shell Powder Supplement(3 OZ Jar)
San Fresco Raw Egg Shell Powder Supplement(3 OZ Jar)
EGGSHELL POWDER (ESP), upcycled glass jar
- Locally pasture-raised eggs
- Economical, natural, wholefood source of elemental calcium for those that do not feed bones (whole or ground) as a part of the daily diet.
- Eggshell Powder is a good calcium choice when preparing DIY meals for animals in chronic renal failure (CRF) because it acts as a mild phosphorus binder.
- The eggshell membrane mainly consists of protein in the form of collagen plus small amounts of chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine and other nutrients considered beneficial for the joints.
A natural calcium supplement to balance the naturally occurring phosphorus in home-prepared (DIY) fresh food diets. DO NOT add eggshell powder to a DIY, commercially available or prepared diet that already includes adequate calcium in the form of whole or ground raw bone, raw meaty bones, or added synthetic calcium.
- Combination of locally pasture-raised duck, guinea hen & chicken eggs.
- Most eggs we use will have their natural bloom intact.
- Rinsed/washed using just water and raw, organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar.
- Dehydrated and ground in small batches.
- Birds are raised with care by small local producers.
- Birds are raised on green living pastures and supplementally fed with either a locally milled certified organic layer poultry feed or a soy/corn-free chicken layer feed.
To Balance Ca:Ph Ratio in Home-prepared Meals: Add 1/2 tsp of ground eggshell powder to every 16 oz (pound) of BONELESS meat/organs/veggies/grains.
Provides ~750-1,000 mg calcium per teaspoon.
DISCUSSION: The more finely ground dried your eggshells are, the more elemental calcium will be provided per serving. The actual calcium content of our eggshells will vary from batch to batch due to natural variations in the nutritional content of the eggs due to the environmental conditions of the hen's pasture, water supply, temperature, stress/health or breeding status, and sunlight which change seasonally, by flock and by location.
Eggshells are a highly bio-available form of elemental calcium. They lack many other important and beneficial nutrients which are provided in raw bone, but they are an excellent choice for providing necessary calcium when preparing meals for animals in renal failure, or for animals that cannot eat raw bone for other health or medical reasons.
Dietary phosphorus is typically restricted or reduced for animals experiencing advanced renal failure. Raw bone is a source of both calcium and phosphorus, while eggshell does not contain an appreciable amount phosphorus and even acts as a mild phosphorus binder. The calcium to phosphorus ratio in bone is 2.5:1 (two and a half times more calcium than phosphorus.) When preparing meals/menus for growing animals and healthy adults, feeding raw bone is a much more nutritious choice for providing necessary calcium in the diet.
In addition to calcium carbonate and protein (predominantly *glycine and L-arginine), eggshells also contain small amounts of other minerals, including .3% phosphorus and .3% magnesium plus traces of sodium, potassium, zinc, manganese, iron, copper, strontium and fluoride. In comparison to other natural calcium sources, chicken eggshell powder contains lower levels of toxic materials, such as lead, aluminum, cadmium and mercury.
* Glycine is the main amino acid in collagen, the main structural protein of connective tissue, such as bone, skin, ligaments, tendons and cartilage. L-arginine is an amino acid that helps your body make proteins and nitric oxide, a molecule that relaxes blood vessels and improves circulation.
